Mrs. Moore's Site II

Welcome to my new site.  I had a site two years ago, but it was so difficult to update that I just didn't do it.
Since I am just getting started again, this one won't be very creative-- yet.  It will take me some time to find just the right pictures and items to make it my own.

The theme of room 15 is Making Connections.  In religion we connect to Our Father through Mary, the Saints, and through people we encounter day after day.
In social studies we connect with the rest of the world through our study of the past and the present. 



 
Religion--One way we connect to God is through prayer.  We will focus on the many forms of prayer as well as the reasons we pray.  We are currently learning the Morning Offering.  It is a beautiful way to begin our day together.  We are also reciting a decade of the Rosary each day, before religion class and at our school Mass on Wednesdays.

Social studies--We have begun the trimester discussing the different geographic tools we use, with an emphasis on types of maps.  Each Wednesday we will have two periods for social studies; the morning session will follow our curriculum and the afternoon session will be devoted to current events.  Most weeks the students will have an assignment to complete on a topic that is currently in the news.  I am looking forward to the discussions that will be sure to follow each assignment. 

Two dates this week to remember:  Thursday, August 26--general meeting in the parish hall at 6:30; meet the teachers in the classrooms at 7:00 p.m.
Friday, August 27--jr. high dance:  7:00 p.m.  While the students are having fun in the courtyard, the parents will meet with the teachers for a meeting that will touch on all you need to know about jr. high.

Thank you for your children.  We have a great group of 7th graders and I know our year will be full of good learning.
